Buying property on the Etna volcano, Sicily, Italy (13th Feb 07)

Buying and living in property or real estate actually on the hillsof the Etan Volcano is far different from what you might first at think. My father-in-law lives on the Etna and I often visit and what a great place to live.

The Etna is far bigger than many people think and the sides of the Etna thus cover many many miles and many villages exist on the Etna. The etna volcano does erupt but the lava is always directed with the use of trenches, to direct the lava safetly. The lava also tends not to travel far. The land is incredibly fertile because of the lava and the view is magnificient. Can you imagine being able to see both the ocean and the volcano. On some days you can ski on the top of the Etna or you can relax on the beach. Property prices tend also to be far cheaper than in the city of Catania.
